Travelling Light: 5 Beauty Essentials We’ll Be Packing For Our Next Trip

Heading away this Easter? Here’s our pick of six travel beauty ideas, from Scandi skincare kits to trusty essentials, all to take you away in style …

The beauty bag

Danish brand Nuori has some stylish travel options for transporting your beauty kit, inluding this Getaway Travel Case, a smart two-in-one made in soft vegan leather, available in colours from black to rose-pink. Check out Nuori skincare, too – they are about to launch The One face cream (€60), in April, with eight ingredients designed to deliver a “super layer” of skincare. €95, www.nuori.com.

The haircare

For some, haircare is a travel non-negotiable – hotel shampoos can be ropey. This set of minis by Olaplex is a veritable salon in a set – ideal for on the go, or else to try out the full range, from Bond Intense Moisture Mask to Nourishing Hair Serum. Discovery Kit, €70, at salons and www.beautybag.ie

The hair tool

I’ve started taking a hair tool with me when I travel – yes it adds to the weight of your case, but as anyone else with troublesome hair will find, it’s worth it. The GHD Duet Style 2-in-1 Hot Air Styler is admittedly a little bulky in your bag, but it’s a one-stop tool that doubles as both a drier (certainly better than a crappy hotel one) and a smoother/straightener/wave-creator. At €370, it’s an investment, certainly – but its wide reach means that it does a good straight blowdry that’s as close to a salon one as you can get – you use it on towel-dried hair. And then straightening or waving is speedy, with a marked improvement in hair shine. Head to your local Peter Mark salon for advice and to see it in action first.

The travel treat

The Le Labo Hinoki Body & Hair Travel Set features fragrant shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and body cream (all under 100ml, so hand luggage-friendly), packaged in a reusable canvas pouch. €50, at Brown Thomas.

The toothbrush

Personally I wouldn’t use this every day, but for travel purposes, this neat, battery-powered sonic Sonisk Pulse Toothbrush is handily small and light. €20, at pharmacies nationwide and www.mccartans.ie.

The Scandi skincare set

Have you discovered Finnish skincare brand Lumene yet? It’s a bestselling staple in Finland, and it’s been around for more than two decades. They do a great selection of wallet-friendly hydrating moisturisers, such as the Nordic Hydra Water Gel. Find this handy travel set at Marks & Spencer, with a neat selection to try out, including the new Nordic-C range that’s dedicated to brightening the skin while you travel.
