What’s the key to looking chic while dressing warmly this winter? Cosy layering that is stylish, not bulky. Begin with a good base layer: a fitted top that isn’t too tight. Try one of Uniqlo’s Heattech sweat-wicking thermal tops or a bamboo base-layer vest. Next, play with texture. Layer a borrowed-from-the-boys-style wool or cashmere sweater over a silk blouse. Or, try a “shacket” (a shirt jacket) in a bright lumberjack print. For outerwear, a cuddly “teddy” or shearling coat is this season’s key investment. Invest in shearling-lined boots, remembering to size up so you can wear thicker socks. Lastly, accessorise. Add personality with a fun hat or beanie. To avoid hat hair, part your hair in the reverse direction to normal. When you take your hat off, flip your hair back and voilà, the volume returns! A cashmere scarf or bandana completes the look.
