From new-season jackets to lighter knits for layering, it’s time to start dressing for milder weather. The laidback chore jacket in cotton, denim or corduroy is a huge source of inspiration for designers this season: Zegna, Carhartt and Cos’ versions are worth checking out. Wear this workwear-inspired style over a midweight T-shirt or a light, not too bulky, knit. If you prefer something more formal, try an unstructured jacket cut from a utilitarian-style fabric. A suede or cotton/linen blend bomber jacket, with its flat ribbed collar, is also set to be a bestseller – wear with a sweatshirt and sporty sneakers or with tailored trousers to look put together. Try Calvin Klein and Zegna at Brown Thomas. Alternatively, a blouson-cut jacket (tighter at the waist than the bomber – it also has an unstructured shirt collar) is back in style in leather, suede or nylon (nylon offers weather protection). Wear it as a smart casual alternative to a blazer and pair with literally anything. If you are considering investing in new knitwear, opt for a Riviera-style shortsleeve knitted polo in a cotton blend – it has a laidback sportswear vibe (a long-sleeve version errs on the smarter side) – or an understated shirt-shaped cardigan. Wear over a linen shirt with straight-leg cotton trousers (cooler than classic chinos) or ecru jeans and a pair of neutral sneakers.
