The high street is delivering on pieces that lean into great design and honest fabrics. Although, you might say, some of these pieces are priced more towards the mid-range: Massimo Dutti’s leather range, for example, is always pitched at a premium price, however it seems to bring quality to the table too. Choose the right item and it will be an investment that will yield dividends come autumn. Equally, the watercolour print midi dress by the brand, below, has an edge in terms of shape. Meanwhile, Abercrombie & Fitch (the name will still strike joy in the hearts of any preppy dressers from the 2000s) has seen a revival of late with the Instagram set. The square neck on the brand’s fit-and-flare dress in a shade of poppy red looks ultra-flattering: add to cart for city dinners or pair with sandals for alfresco dining. There’s a lot of linen-look pieces on the high street for summer, that are actually made with synthetic fabrics, but Selected Femme’s beige straight-leg trousers, below, blend organic cotton with linen, which is a nice mix. Lastly, H&M is nodding to Chloé’s boho revival by homing in on tiered ruffle blouses which are the last word in dreamy.
