Once the summer slips into autumn, and transitional dressing comes to the fore, a great dress can become paramount. What are we looking for? A dress with a flattering V-neck, long sleeves and a wearable midi length, these do-it-all shapes make for perfect back to the school gates styles, aiding you when the days suddenly ratchet up in speed – and your wardrobe needs to keep up. The Tess floral dress, pictured below, with its midi length and lace detailing is a wardrobe all-rounder, €249; www.fee-g.com. Speaking of back to school, there’s nothing like a crisp leather bag to add structure to your outfits at this time of year. Going from strength to strength is Ireland-based luxury accessories label, Landa. The Teca leather bag in dark green, €375, pictured below, punctuates any look with an air of sophistication, while the new Moye croc print phone bag, €98, which comes with a slip card holder on the back, is high on appeal.

If shopping IRL rather than online is your jam, don’t miss the Urban Aran trunk show taking place both this weekend and next at the Westbury Mall. There’s a penchant for shirting at THE GLOSS HQ, so it’s only natural that we’re in a constant search for our next crisp cotton hit. Irish designer Ejay Griffin is remixing the traditional shirt dress with Twirl, an asymmetric shirt dress in sky blue striped cotton that boasts dropped shoulders and a ruched side gathering at the waist. Pair with sandals and bare legs for a last summer hurrah.

Autumn is looking vampy and decadent, if the AW24 collection by slow fashion brand Aoife® is anything to go by. Bookmark the brand for luxury pieces that really deliver on conscious fabrications. The brand produces its collection using Galway wool, a special heritage wool sourced from native Irish sheep, low-impact fibres like linen, GOTS-certified cotton and Magee 1866 wool. Lastly, for a dose of lifestyle inspiration, look to the recent dinner held by Adare-based label Aoife McNamara at Copenhagen Fashion Week. The B Corp-certified brand hosted an intimate dinner for the style set in the Danish capital, to mark a collaboration with Donegal Yarns. Guest dined on farm-to-fork fare in the lush setting of ØsterGRO, a rooftop farm in the centre of the city, while a hint of home adorned the table settings thanks to art by Limerick School of Art & Design graduate Gemma Cowan: the ultimate bucolic setting for a fashion brand inspired by nature.
