Over 300 guests attended the black tie ball hosted by Irish humanitarian aid agency GOAL …
Established in Ireland in 1977, GOAL has worked in over 60 countries, responding to every major humanitarian crisis of the last 45 years. A highlight for its supporters is the annual black tie ball which this year included 300 guests who were welcomed by Siobhan Walsh, CEO of GOAL, and sports commentator and television presenter Marty Morrissey, who was Master of Ceremonies. Guests at the event included Colin Hunt, CEO of AIB Group; Anne O’Leary, VP Global Business EMEA, Meta; Shane Nolan, CEO of Leinster Rugby; as well as other senior leaders from KPMG, Deloitte, Matheson, A&L Goodbody, EY and many others.
At the event, Siobhan Walsh introduced David Gillick, Olympic sprinter and the latest GOAL Ambassador. Siobhan told guests, “David recently visited GOAL’s work in Uganda and witnessed first-hand the dedication of our GOAL staff on the ground, and the resilience of the local communities we work with. Our ambassadors reflect our core values – leadership, commitment, resilience in the face of adversity, and a deep commitment to equality for all.”
One of the highlights of the evening was a panel discussion entitled “A Look Forward to a Summer of Sport”’ which included David Gillick, Tham Nguyen, a 26-year-old weightlifting champion and Eamonn Coghlan, a former Irish track and field athlete and three-time Olympian.
An auction, conducted by GOFFS auctioneer Andrew Nolan, raised over €140,000 and will be donated to GOAL’s humanitarian aid programmes across Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa. www.goalglobal.org
